In The Gospel of Life, Pope St. John Paul II challenged Catholics to take a hard look at how we, as those that follow Christ, are assisting single pregnant and parenting moms in need at our parishes and to address the needs in our local community. And if we are serving single pregnant moms, perhaps find new ways to improve our responses, where needed. In short, to truly accompany each single pregnant and parenting woman in need.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops launched a nationwide effort entitled, “Walking with Moms in Need” inviting parishes such as ours to join them in the critical undertaking of truly accompanying single pregnant and parenting moms in need.
At St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church has have established a Walking with Moms in Need resource website and ministry volunteers to be that companion and assist you as you navigate the myriad of material, personal development, medical, mental health and spiritual resources available to you. It can be overwhelming, and we are here to help!
Pope St. John Paul II writes: “With great openness and courage, we need to question how widespread is the culture of life is today among individual Christians, families, groups and communities in our Dioceses. With equal clarity and determination, we must identify the steps we are called to take in order to serve life in all its truth.” Evangelim Vitae (Gospel of Life) #95
